Owl Cube Messenger Bag by EST0PPEL Owl Cube Messenger Bag by EST0PPEL
Finally finished! This is the first time that I've entered a DA contest and I worked really hard on this design. I've not done a lot of cubism, but I went with the barn owl because it's face lends itself to cubism quite well.

I really hope I can win...I could use a new computer (my lovely current desk top is wonderful, but is from 2003...and starting to go unfortunately...).

This piece is very diverse. Whilst following the impressionistic guidelines of the variation of perspective, this piece remains subjective. Despite the expressed curvature within the feathers, appropriate segments have been outlined and they certainly add a simple, but effective emphasis. I cannot say that this was the first/ only piece which portrays a bird, but the colour and bird type certainly are original. I would have to say though, There are too many curved lines, and not enough shape jittering. This is probably due to the outline. There isn't a sense of fragmentism. Also, having the bird being portrayed in the same shape as the bag is very effective. Very nice vision, but I reckon, could be more effective. I have scored you relatively low on technique due to lack of fragmentism and the natural curvature. Well done overall, this is a great piece, and you have based it on the task very well.

Hey there! First off, just as a heads up, I'm submitting this comment as part of an event/cause wherein participants offer one constructive comment to two people I am watching. Just spreading the love :B So I chose to focus an effort towards this, because having being able to recall voting, it seems I didn't comment.
The most prevalent aspect about this design that struck me was its sheer strength, aesthetically, but is a word that could also pertain to your courage having used cubism for your entry which is a lesser understood and undermined movement by many, based on experience. Nonetheless, you needn't be courageous about anything within its submission of the design. Moreover, its less than true-to-life representation is obviously an intended effort for deviation of true form and ''curvature'', as someone else pointed out, which makes substantial contribution to my reasons of the designs strength: your translation is truly impeccable. Further to this, the colour choices are really attractive, which is particularly true for the owls face which, in agreeing it lends itself very nicely to cubism, is a notion just complimented outright by what's seemingly ''flat'' other than when taking more than a glance to realize that the actual colours are used enforce the use of various ''sides'' or ''angles'' due to the sense of a secondary light source I get from that face. Of course, it also pertains to the rest of the imagery but I've used the most prominant feature of the example in my explanation =P. I'm undoubtedly going to favorite this a second time having been reminded of how awesome I found it then, and now.
fyi: 52 Week Comment Challenge! - Week 06ProjectComment presents the community of deviantART a project that will question what it really means to be a commenter, an artist, a member of deviantART. All of these challenges relate to commenting in some shape or form, and we sincerely encourage everyone to take part! :la:
You do not have to be brilliant at writing comments and we are not asking you to perform miraculous feats. We are just looking for people willing to make a difference. It is all too easy to receive constructive comments, but giving them is equally, if not more, rewarding.
Each week, a challenge is set with the deviations of those who participated in the previous week featured in a news article. Many thanks to Qihah, koshnika, SuzanneHole, saiyron, Sketchy-McFanartist, sugarmints, TheElvishDevil, dviouslecunning, OHiNeedTea, AnimeGirlMika, CameronKobe, Calysar, DTKinetic, RetSamys for participating in Week 4!

Oh wow! Love the kind of bird you picked for a messanger bag. (Totally adores Owls *____*) I so want to have a bag like this...the design is just awesome and very polished with that jazzy hit of colour with the destaturated greens. I wish you so much luck in the contest!:love:
